SPPRAK team heads to Harrisburg, IL

A Letter of Thanks from SPPRAK

SPPRAK (Special People Performing Random Acts of Kindness) would like to express our gratitude for the overwhelming response to our request for donations to assist the people of Harrisburg, IL that have been effected by the E4 tornado February 29. We anticipated an SUV full of donations and because of the generosity of our community we filled a cargo van (donated by GLong Auto in Brazil,IN) and a 3/4 ton pick up filled with ONE ton of water donated by Terre Haute Regional Hospital. What is more amazing to us is that it was done in a 24 hour period.

Certainly our local news media, Terre Haute Tribune-Star; WTHI; WTWO played a major role in this accomplishment. Without their coverage, the awareness of our project would not have reached as many in our community. VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley played a major role as well by allowing us to use their facility as the community collection site.

The people that we spoke to in Harrisburg all were overwhelmed that people from Terre Haute would care for them enough to send the donations, thoughts and prayers. The coordinator on site for Operation Blessings said it best, " I always know we are in the Midwest by the show of hands of those who are out of town coming in to help" The majority were people like us, coming in to lend a hand because we can.

Again, thank you to all of you contributed in anyway be it through donations, thoughts and prayers. All of you are Special People Performing Random Acts of Kindness.
